Today I’ll review “History’s Strongest Disicple Kenichi” (poster inset)
Genres for this anime include Comedy, Martial Arts, Training, and Romance.
The story focuses on Shirahama “Weak Legs” Kenichi, your typical 15 year old Male Japanese School Student. He’s been picked on and ridiculed coming up through the grades – and he wants the power to stop the bullying and protect those he likes.
However, after approximately a month into his freshman year, he meets the mysterious transfer student, Miu Fūrinji. Driven by his desire to become stronger so he won’t be picked on and to protect those around him, he follows her to ‘Ryōzanpaku’, a martial arts Dojo for those who are truly strong and have mastered their arts – but Kenichi doesn’t know this at first. (and many laughs ensue!)
After learning basics from Miu, Kenichi is able to beat a high ranking member of the school’s karate club who has ridiculed him. After that he becomes a target for all the delinquents in the school because of rumors that he is the strongest spread around. Subsequently, Kenichi’s daily routine is divided between VERY hellish training under the six masters of Ryōzanpaku. Yes, six! There’s Karate (Sakaki Shio), Judo (Akisame Kouetsuji), Muay Thai (Apachai Hopachai), Chinese Martial Arts (Ma Kensei), Prodigy with Weaponry (Kosaka Shigure), and the Elder who is a bit of everything! Each one of his masters are instantly likeable. (the writers did a good job of that!)
He fights against the members of Ragnarok, a local delinquent gang that views him as either a possible ally or an impending threat to their plans. While fighting them, he befriends some and they never will be the same – with combinations of courage and a friendly personality, Kenichi becomes a beacon of peace through fighting.
The Manga is still airing through the “Yomi Arc” and has yet to see fruition in animation, but I hope they will release that in anime when it finished, for History’s Strongest Disicple Kenichi is a blast of humor and good fighting, making it a likeable anime for anyone interested!
Happy Viewing, My friends!
