Currently Airing Spotlight: Durarara!!

Today, I’ll take a look at the currently airing anime, Durarara!!

From the same producers and studio as Baccano! Comes another tale of intertwining storylines that weave together into a grander plot. As the opening is startlingly similar in Baccano! fashion, you get a brief gander at the names of the people you’ll be introduced throughout their tale weaving.

The plot takes place with Mikado Ryuugaminem, who is a young man who longs for the exciting life of the big city. At the invitation of his childhood friend Masaomi, he transfers to a school in Ikebukuro. Masaomi warns him about people he doesn’t want to cross in the city: a violent man dressed like a bartender, an information-selling merchant, and a mysterious gang called “Dollars”. And to top it off, Mikado witnesses an urban legend on his first day in the city: the Headless Rider astride a black motorcycle.

The story starts here and continues to weave, with a lot of the beginning put on the elusive black motorcycle urban legend. It’s enough to hook and snare anyone who enjoyed Baccano! Between all the characters that seem to have an online alias when chatting, their stories will mix and undeniably create another Baccano-Esque experience. If you have not seen Baccano!, I also highly suggest that series. You can get a feel for how they’ll do Durarara! from it.

Anyways, currently this show has my interests highly, so I have to rate it currently at about 4.25/5. If you enjoy my other reviews, something tells me you’d enjoy this series. Have fun!
